Who

Let me be honest, during my childhood I really didn’t like playing games. But when I did, the only thing that mattered to me was how to cheat in the best possible way. That was actually the only part that made it fun to me. Years later, I visited some of my friends and they were playing a game in which they needed to trade lumber, grain and wool. And someone was actually trying to build the longest road! I said “Really?!?! You guys prefer to trade sources instead of going out and drink beers?” “Why don’t you join?”, they asked me. “Just see how it goes and then decide what you want”. And so I did… The rest is history, as for many other people.

I started playing more games, actually buying games and even started visiting fairs. Who would have thought that? The virus had also affected me… In 2008 I even started working for a company that produced games. For 10 years I worked for Cartamundi as an account manager, responsible for sales of cards and complete card- and boardgames to several European publishers and manufacturers. And because of that, I actually know many people now in this market, not only in Europe but worldwide. The most remarkable thing in this market, is that, besides the fact that it’s still business, almost every game company’s mission is to spread joy and fun and to create happiness amongst people. And that is exactly what you feel when you are working in this market: informality, fun, friendships and a high level of approachability. At the age of 40 I realized it was time to move on. I saw so many opportunities in this market. A growing business, more consumers, more designers, more games, more diversity in sales channels such as crowdfunding platforms, and also new developments and techniques. Think about all the legacy- and hybrid games. Therefore I created my own company. With this company I will become a bigger part of spreading this joy, happiness and fun all over the world. Isn’t that what it’s all about?
